Friends Friday ~ Kelsey 6.14.13

 I want to introduce Kelsey! She blogs over at Running With My Tiara On. (You SERIOUSLY need to go check out her BLOG! Like as in right NOW! But please just come back to read this post.)
 She and I are both in the same boat of working on healthier lifestyles, like many of you out there. I wanted to share with you this inspiring guest post she wrote for the blog!
Without further Ado...


Hi there! I am Kelsey and I blog over at Running With My Tiara On. I am so excited to be posting today for Friends Friday! I started to blog as a way to hold me accountable for weightloss and getting in shape. I also added the tiara bit because I am obsessed with princess stuff/ girly things and I enjoy writing about those things as well.

Today I am going to be talking about what keeps me motivated. Let's face it, working out and trying to get healthy is hard! It's so easy to let yourself slide back into old habits or not really push yourself. I have found that really thinking about the reasons that I started this journey to begin with are what help keep me motivated. So without further ado, my inspirations:

My Husband
D is such a good looking man, has had a six pack for as long as I have known him. He is in the Army so he works out 5 times a week and keeps in good shape; granted he doesn't need to work out to keep his body looking amazing. On top of him being so gorgeous he is so super supportive. He has really encouraged me to work hard and push myself. He always is there to tell me 'no' when I want unhealthy snacks or 'go' when I am being lazy about my workouts. Most importantly he always has the sweetest things to say when I am having a 'fat day,' as I call them. His good looks and encouraging attitude are a huge factor in how I have kept at it for so long!

I know this one seem like a no brainer but honestly I am tired of not liking what I see when I look in the mirror. I want to be happy with my body and I want to work on my health so that I don't have to worry about it as I get older. My dad has diabetes so I am always super nervous about the fact that I am predisposed so I want to make sure I am doing all that I can to make sure that I don't get it. Both of those two things together is the internal motivation that I have

My Pup
I have a two year old Siberian husky that really helps to motivate me. First of all, if you don't know anything about sibes they are highly energetic. They were bred to pull sleds long distances so Luna always has energy to burn. Knowing she doesn't just want but needs that run really helps to get me out of the house. She also motivates me to run faster once we are out there since she is SO much faster than I am.

My Future Kids
I, like many people, have dealt with my weight almost my whole life, not to mention I was never good at sports. Naturally, those two things led to me getting picked on (mostly in middle and upper elementary school) and caused me to have very low self esteem. Because I went through it I know I never want my future children to go through it. When they are growing up I want to teach them a healthy lifestyle through eatting the right foods and exercising. I don't want to just do all of this in talk- I want it to be a family thing. I want to eat healthy together as a family and go on family walks and runs. I need to make it a part of who I am now so that I can lead my future children by example!

I hope hearing about my motivators has really helped you to dig down and think about yours- whether for fitness or some other life improving thing it important to really consider the things that matter!

  1. I would say a few things about this post:

    (1) Sibs are awesome. I used to babysit some a few years ago. You need a section for that dog on your blog. :)

    (2) Your husband? Um... good looking! That's all I will say!

    (3) I completely agree with you on keeping the weight off or losing it- soo sooo hard, but it will be so beneficial for your future kids. You are so right.

  3. I am totally on the same page (except I don't have a dog lol)
    I really want my kids to grow up eating healthy. my biggest struggle in school years was not knowing I wasn't eating healthy because it wasn't important in our house. Now that I am older, I know how important it is to teach your children about healthy lifestyles through actions AND words. :)

    1. yeah I was the same way and now I know how important it is and am working on making it a bigger part of my life! Definitely love having bloggy friends that are doing the same thing

  5. This is SUCH an awesome post. I need to write my motivations down and stick them on the fridge to remind me. My motivators are all pretty similar, Husband, Kids, Our Pup...and the girl in the mirror. :o)
