Home Grown Freshness ALL Year Long! Part 3


For all your Spicy Fanatics this ones for you!
I was first introduced to pepper jelly when I went out to Lake Havasu, AZ when I was in 6th grade. My grandparents took my mom and I to a swap-meet (flea market) and a local lady was selling it. 
My mom bought some and since then I could just remember how delicious it was!
Dan and I made pepper jelly last year for the first time. 

You will need the following for the kit:
4 LBS Bell Peppers (8-10 medium)
2 Cups Distilled White Vinegar
1/2 Cup Lemon Juice
9 Cups Sugar
1 Pouch Mrs Wages Pectin Blend
1 Pouch Mrs Wages Pepper Jelly Mix
{The Pectin and Pepper Jelly Mixes are the KIT}
 Yields approx 12 Half Pints 

I also want to try this recipe from Better Homes & Gardens New Cook Book
Located on page 215

3 Cups Cranberry Juice (Not Low Calorie)
1 Cup Vinegar
4 to * Fresh Jalapeno Peppers, Halved
10 Cups Sugar
1 6oz Package of Liquid Fruit Pectin
 Yields approx 10 Half Pints 


They also have a recipe on their website for  Western-Style Pepper Jelly
(Looks similar to Mrs. Wages)

I love Pepper Jelly on crackers with cream cheese. I also LOVE it on ham steaks as a glaze.
