Literary Friday: Freak Of Nature

So this past week I read Freak of Nature. I LOVED this book so I thought I would share it with you!

                                                          NetGalley Synopsis

                                                           Donate Body to Science. Check.

When seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she’d have her life–and her body–stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half-robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they’ll erase what remains of who she was.

Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can’t get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds.

*For mature teens due to some sexual content.*

I DID NOT want to put this book down. I believe that I read this book within about 4-5 days (I would have finished sooner if not for work). The author does an AMAZING job of making you FEEL the characters fears, hope and dreams, and for a "robot" Kaitlyn has many of these. When reading a book it becomes important for me to be able to connect with the characters, which Julia does a spectacular job of doing. I can't wait to read more of Kaitlyn's story.
Kaitlyn wakes as a cyborg, half humane half robot at the Top Secret IFICS laboratory. She is not supposed to feel emotion or remember her past, because she is the ultimate weapon, but she does. Find out what happens on Kaitlyn's journey to find out "who she was" and her feelings for Lucas. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sci-FY and fantasy.  This is the first book of Julia's I have read, but have already downloaded several of her others after completing Freak of Nature.

Julia Crane
Julia Crane is the author of the Coexist: Keegan’s Chronicles. She has a bachelors degree in criminal justice. Julia has believed in magical creatures since the day her grandmother first told her an Irish tale. Growing up her mother greatly encouraged reading and using your imagination. Although she’s spent most of her life on the US east coast, she currently lives in Dubai with her husband and three children.

**I received this book via NetGalley for an Honest Review**
