Grand Finale Celebration!

On tour with Prism Book Tours

Feeling forgetful? Can't remember where the heck you set down your keys? Your glasses?

We've all been there.

But . . . what if you forgot your life?

What if that life wasn't worth remembering?

In spite of the happy cover, I HAVE PEOPLE deals with the sensitive issue of domestic abuse. It is about learning to recognize a good man versus a bad one. It's about second chances and finding love, real love.

The overpowering message behind I HAVE PEOPLE is that verbal, mental, and physical abuse is NOT OKAY! EVER!

Check out the tour and then read Holly's story. It will change your life.</ span>

Missing any memories?

Holly Sinclair is happily married to the love of her life, Gabriel. Young and in love, Holly hopes to have their first child soon. Of course, Gabriel wants to wait till Holly’s health is restored, much to Holly’s dismay. She feels perfectly fine. So what if she just woke up from an eight-month coma? So what if some of her memories are missing? She remembers Gabe and that’s all that matters, right?

That is, until HE enters her life again . . . she forgot about HIM.

It's been a great Tour, exploring the origins and themes of I Have People by Taylor Dean. In case you missed part of the tour... here it is, one more time:  links to all the great guest posts and reviews with quotes...

Just a Taste (to wet your whistle)

Excerpt from the Prologue:

I turn the key in the lock and open the front door. It was last closed in 1978 by Stuart Marryat, my first cousin once removed and the final owner of the Marryat Island Ballroom and Lodge. When I told him why I wanted to go back, Stu gave me the key and said I could go in and look around before the wrecker’s ball did its work.
Not much has changed in fifty years. When I step into the spacious front hall and breathe deeply of the musty air, time snaps shut like a paper fan and I’m young again. Young and idealistic. And smug, though back then I didn’t know it.
My grandson walks through the front hall, head bobbing like a pendulum, looking left and right. On the one side is the vast dining room, still furnished with tables and chairs and the large buffet table from which we served and refreshed drinks during meals. Across the hall is the sitting room, where guests reclined to read, converse, play cards or board games or simply to rest. Straight ahead is the front desk, the mail slots, the rows of hooks that still held an odd assortment of room keys.  “Wow,” Sean says. “Cool place. Why are they going to tear it down?”
“Too old to pass code,” I say.
“Too bad.” He shrugs.
“Yes, it is.”
“So how old were you when you lived here?”
“Well, I was seventeen when we moved here from Minnesota.” Seven years older than Sean is now. He probably thinks I was all grown up. I thought so too, at the time.
“So what are we looking for?”
“Something I left behind when I moved away. I’m pretty sure it got packed up with some of my other things and was stored away in the attic.”
“But what is it, Grandma?”
“A wooden box. My parents gave it to me for Christmas one year, when I was very young.”
“Just a box? After all these years, why do you want it now?”
I pause and smile. “I’m a sentimental old fool.”
He laughs lightly. “No you’re not, Grandma.”
“Well, there’s something in the box your grandfather gave me. I’d like to have it again.”
“All right. So how do you get to the attic?”
“Follow me.”
The attic is a large room with a low slanted ceiling and windows across the front and on both sides. With the electricity off in the lodge, the attic is dim and stuffy and smells heavily of must and of things that have been stored for decades. Sean and I go about unlocking and opening the windows to let in both sunlight and fresh air. Then we turn to the task at hand. We are surrounded by an eclectic collection of dusty furniture, old steamer trunks, floor lamps with tasseled shades, wooden crates and cardboard boxes.
“Where do we start, Grandma?”
I turn on my flashlight; he follows suit. “Well,” I say, “we might as well start with these boxes right here.” I shine my light to indicate the pile.
Sean shrugs. “Okay.” He settles his flashlight on the seat of a ladder-back chair and pulls one of the boxes off the pile. He opens the flaps. “While we’re looking through all this stuff, why don’t you tell me about what happened here?” he says. “You know, the summer you moved in.”
I step to the box and move my flashlight beam over what’s inside. “Do you really want to know?” I ask.
“Yeah. You’ve never told me the story, Grandma. Tell me now.”
I think about that a moment. I suppose it is time for him to know. “All right, let’s see,” I say, searching for the place to begin. “You know we moved here in 1931, right?”
“Yeah. But that’s about all I do know.”
I nod. He pulls another box off the pile. Taking a deep breath, I say, “Well, I’ll tell you what, had I known what was waiting for me in Mercy, Ohio, I might not have been so eager leave Minnesota….”

10 Reasons Why I'll Never Be A Famous Blogger

We all know there are famous bloggers in blogland. These talented ladies have four bazillion followers, get review/giveaway contracts with corporations all over the nation, speak at conferences, and are hailed as leaders in their, er, field.

That's never going to be me. And here's why:

1) I'm not fashionable. I wear jeans every chance I get, and don't know Versace from Donna Karan from Mossimo.

2) I suck at photography. I never brand my images, I don't take a lot of them, and usually the light balance is off.

3) I'm not a mom. I'll make up a statistic and say that 89% of bloggers out there are moms. It's a thing.

4) I'm not crafty. I mean, I can use a glue gun and I like being creative, but I can't make an animatronic sculpture out of toilet roll tubes and glitter.

5) I don't have 15 spare hours a day. I'm currently unemployed, and yet I *still* don't have the time these folks seem to, to network and stalk social media, and make deals with marketing companies, and make daily posts. I've tried....I just can't do it. Maybe they don't sleep?

6) I'm not on Wordpress. 'Nuff said.

7) I don't speak vintage chic. I often use my figure and size as the excuse not to wear vintage clothing (I usually look like a sausage in 50's dresses), but the truth is I am as fashion-illiterate with previous decades as I am with the current one.

8) I'm not beauty-savvy. I discovered nail polish about 3 weeks ago. You say MAC, and I wait for the "and Jack's".

9) I have more random posts than giveaways. I do try to host giveaways often, usually for books, but it feels to me like bribery to prostitute my blog in order to get followers.

10) I'm not witty. I wish I were, but most of the time I write the way I speak- sort of bumbling, a little funny, not very polished.

And there you have it, folks! I'm happy with my blog, as unfocused and obscure as it is. It's a pretty apt reflection of my tastes, humor, style, and interests....and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Goodreads Synopsis

Two extraordinary characters. One unforgettable love story.

In the spring of 1941, young Jon Meyer’s family dies in a tragic accident, and he is sent to live in a small Indiana town. He arrives to find himself unwanted and shunned.

Mary Dahlgren is the mayor’s daughter. A pretty girl, she could have the pick of the boys in town, including Vernon King, the star of the vaunted high school basketball team. To the chagrin of her friends, though, Mary has always been more interested in books than boys. That is, until she meets Jon.

But Jon and Mary are kept apart through the efforts of Mary’s father, who perceives their relationship a threat to his political aspirations, and Vernon, to whom Jon is a rival for Mary’s affections. For months Jon is subjected to a painful ostracism. Then, just when the young man’s earnestness and perseverance begin to win over many of the townsfolk, and it appears that love may conquer all, tragedy strikes.

As the country is caught up in war, so too are the young lovers swept up in events beyond their control, leaving both fighting for their very lives. If, against the odds, they are to be together, each will need to find the strength, the courage and the resourcefulness that beat only in a defiant heart.

My Opinion

I absolutely LOVED this book to the point that I didn't want to put it down! This book made me feel a range of emotions,. from crying my eyes out to bursting with happiness for the main characters. Jon and Mary's love story was heartbreaking and enthralling, I found myself  rooting for them the whole way through the book.

At the tender age of 15 Jon was sent to Indianan to live with his 80 year old estranged grandmother, after his parents and brother's death in an automobile accident. Jon learns that life in Indianan is majorly different from his life in New York. He was beaten up and then ostracized by the kids at school. The only one who took notice of Jon was Mary.

If you LOVE reading about coming of age, romance, WWII, historical fiction and suspense, this is a book for you. I would Highly Recommend this book. It was very well written with a great plot and well defined characters.

Review: I Have People (Prism Book Tour)

On Tour with Prism Book tours...

I Have PeopleI Have People</ b>

My Opinion

This book is AMAZINGLY well written.  I couldn't put this book DOWN! I can't get into telling you too much about the plot or it will give the book away (and we don't want that do we?).
Needless to say I cried with Holly and laughed with her too.  Holly grew up in many foster homes as a young child, with no people of her own. This is Holly's story of how her life changes from having no people to "I Have People". Holly's story is full of happiness, love and terror.

The suspense of what was going to happen next, got me "hook, line and sinker". The author did a great job developing the plot and characters. This is a must read book, I highly recommend it. As a warning this book does deal with ABUSE, so if you can't/don't want to read about that this is not a book for you.
